Pyrite has become an extremely successful model for CJRB, leading to many variants and an entire model family.
It is now available in different sizes and with handle materials such as FRN, Ultem, Micarta, steel, aluminum, and titanium. It is also available with or without inlays in the handle sides and with several different blade types. First, it was a drop point, later supplemented with a Wharncliffe, and now a clip point.
Thus, Bowie Pyrite was born, which led to further variations. Pyrite can now be had with bolsters in either steel or brass. In the latter case, we are talking about a luxury edition with a blade made of S90V steel. That and models with titanium handles also cause the price level to vary.
This version belongs to the slightly simpler ones, I might add.

CJRB Bowie Pyrite |
However, you can choose between two different types of wood, dark ebony or lighter rosewood as in this case. This somewhat cheaper knife also does not have the double bolsters that characterize its more expensive relative.
What is common, however, is the blade shape. A clip point that measures 80 mm in length and has a modest thickness of 2.7 mm. The steel used in this case is a steel developed by Artisan Cutlery/CJRB called AR-RPM9.

Has CJRB with Bowie Pyrite created a modern interpretation of a Buck 112? |
The knife's overall length is 187 mm, and it is 107 mm in the closed position. Despite the metal and wood in the handle, it weighs less than one hundred grams. Bowie Pyrite in this design weighs in at a decent 97 grams.
One thing that the entire Pyrite family has in common is the lock type. They are all Button locks. Incidentally, it was a quality that attracted me. But it must be admitted that two other arguments prevailed. One is that the Pyrite generally seems like a nice knife, but in this version, it is damn good-looking! That was my main reason to get the knife!
If it's half as good as I believe, I will be happy. But expectations are high. I will return with reports in slightly different formats, you can be sure of that.
