New Knife - Zitoon The Primitive No Spin

The big brother has already been presented and when it was made it was also revealed that this knife, Zitoon Knives Le primitif no spin, was in the works.

To be clear, this is not a shrunken version of an existing model, and who knows if Olivier Feret didn't design this one first. Despite their similar appearance, they are two completely different knives in terms of their properties. One is an eminent knife for spin throwing and this is a pure No Spin knife.

Of course, you can always do other things with it, too. But that is the technique it was designed for, and subtle details reveal this to a trained eye.

Zitoon Knives Le primitif

That is also the reason for the slimmer format. Generally, knives for this type of technique are smaller and lighter than their more classic relatives. In actual measurements, this means that they are often around 25 cm in length. Shorter and they become more unstable in the air and more difficult to control, especially at longer distances. Longer and they are not as easy to flick away on the right keel. Sometimes "No Spin" is also called "Anti Spin", which is explanatory in this case. If the knife is large, there is simply more mass that must be prevented from rotating.

For this reason, The Primitive, as it is called in English, is exactly 25 cm long. This is matched by a thickness of 6 mm, which gives a weight of 220 g. No Spin knives can be simply divided into a heavier and a lighter category with a limit of around 250 g. Then you understand that this one belongs to the slightly slimmer ones.

The finish is a brushed steel finish and the steel is the same as the big brother, Hardox 450. The Zitoon logo is found on one side of the handle.

Then it was the details that revealed it. The most obvious one, which is only visible from certain angles, is that the top and bottom of the handle are not at the same angle to the rest of the knife. This allows the thrower to choose how much "kick" they want against their index finger in the throwing motion. There are more small features built into the design, but I will return to them in a future review.

What the two models share is an incredibly effective tip and a brutally elegant appearance.

Now all that remains is to start throwing!
