There's no doubt that a certain type of lock called the "Button Lock" has been gaining a lot of momentum lately. It is noticeable not least among my knives as it is something that is found on several of my new additions.* The reason is simple, it is a very good lock if it is correctly executed. It may not be the strongest compared to some others on the market, but it is more than enough for most folding knives. In addition, it is very easy to handle and gives knives an additional opening technique.
So when Sencut released this model called Serene, interest was piqued. Apart from including the mentioned lock type, it is clean and simple in the lines which is something I usually appreciate and the blade looked very competent.
The knife comes in the usual Sencut packaging which includes a small nylon bag |

In fact, the knife is just as nice as it looks in the picture. It is both light and well balanced and the lock is well-made and fidget friendly. In addition, there are some small subtleties that make using it a joy. Something I intend to return to in a future review.
The materials are recognizable to those who are used to this knife brand. This means that in this knife you get an aluminum handle and blade in D2. Not a bad combination at all!
It can be mentioned in passing for those who do not know that Sencut is a spin-off or budget version of Civivi. A brand that in turn has the same relationship with WE Knife. It is thus the same company but three different brands found in different price segments.
Spontaneously, it's a very likable knife. I will return to whether that claim holds up.

* My first knife with such a lock was a Böker Speedlock bought sometime in the late nineties if I remember correctly.
