SOG is one of those legendary brands that have been around since, if not forever, then at least for a very long time. Many people probably thought, however, that their heyday was over as they had somewhat disappeared from the scene for a few years. But those fears have now come to shame. This especially applies to the pocket knives segment. As for fixed blades, they have done better is my impression.
The new catalog included, among others, this model called Terminus XR. Terminus was a very good model from the beginning. The stylish but above all efficient blade shape was combined with a very sympathetic and ergonomic handle. Then SOG's version of a lock with transverse bolt "XR" is very effective.
However, this is the luxury version of that knife. With the addition of "LTE" to the name comes a number of upgrades.

These are mainly the materials in question. In this case, very fine materials as you will find S35VN steel in the blade which has also been coated with durable TiNi. That is what gives the golden color, by the way. If you do not like "bling", it is also available in graphite gray. The handle is made of carbon fiber instead of the original G10. In addition, they got rid of the frame and chosen to rely on the material's inherent strength. It saves a lot on the total weight. Not least as this is one of the few handles made of solid carbon fiber that is lightened on the inside. All in all, it gives a weight saving of almost 30%, which is really impressive because the original model was not a heavyweight either.
Terminus XR LTE is a very well-built knife, I noticed immediately. SOG's XR lock keeps its promise and is extremely sturdy in this design. The same applies to the handle, which despite the low weight is stiff enough not to flex.
And yes, it can be said that for those who like to fidget with their knives, this knife can be optimal as it can be opened in no less than five different ways if you include a slow thumb roll and two-handed opening.
The knife quickly became a favorite and a review will follow later!
