Sometimes you need something dagger-like in your life. At least if you, like me, appreciate that kind of aesthetic. One such thing comes from the Czech Republic and the brand Acta non verba Knives or ANV as they are also called. I have previously presented another slightly less extreme knife from them called the Z200. It was clearly more focused on "EDC" than this knife might seem at first glance.
This model is called Z400.
ANV Z400 |
A folding knife with aesthetics taken from daggers from Czech ANV |
Like the previous knife, this model is technically quite advanced. The blade steel is not the most common. ANV are using Sleipner here. A steel from Uddeholm which according to them is has high abrasion resistance, high resistance to chipping and can reach high hardness (over 63 HRC). Here, however, ANV has chosen to keep it to a more modest 58HRC. A hardness that is perhaps more common in knife contexts. Otherwise it can be said that this is a fairly striking blade. It is 3.5 mm thick and measures one decimeter or four inches in length. In addition, the shape is symmetrical, something that is emphasized by a notch in the blade.
The total length of the knife is measured at 23 cm. A rather large folding knife in other words. As is often the case with ANV, the handle is available in several variants. It can be had in G10 in a couple of different colors (Black, Coyote, Olive) and as here in black aluminum. The lock is in all variants a liner lock. The opening of the blade is done with the help of a flipper and the knife comes with ANV's own "loop over deep ride wire clipo". A clip I came to appreciate even though it could have been a little stiffer.
The aluminum handle, the absence of a frame and the open construction means that the total weight ends up at a low 110 grams.
Overall a very well built knife that I have every reason to return to
