New Knife - Condor Dismissal

What are 14 inches long, weigh in at 330 grams, and have a generally nasty appearance? It happens to be an adequate description of a throwing knife called Dismissal from Condor Tool & Knives. A company that has a gigantic range in their catalog. Everything from swords and machetes can be found there via outdoor and folding knives to kitchen knives. The range also includes throwing knives and throwing axes.

Among the throwing knives, there are several models for different throwing techniques, whether you prefer "Traditional"/"Full spin" throwing or "No spin".

Condor Tool & Knife Dismissal 14"

Dismissal is designed by Condor's house designer Joe Flowers. It comes in two sizes, one that measures 12 "or 30.5 cm in length and then this larger 14"/35 cm. The thickness is 5 mm and the material is 1075. Carbon steel is always a good alternative to throwing knives because when it is kept fairly soft, it bends rather than cracks. It is needed as throwing knives are the knives that are tried the hardest of all knife types. The surface is provided with a black epoxy coating to protect against corrosion.

The balance of this knife is not completely neutral but is slightly offset against the blade. I'm not used to that, so it remains to be seen what I think of it. I intend to return with a series of posts about knife throwing and then of course also a review of this knife.
