Cursed be all the snow and cold! What the weather has to do with new knives, one can contemplate over for a moment. However, the kind of knives it's about might give an explanation.
These are my newest set of throwing knives, Excalibur D2 from AceJet and since King Bore has decided to throw a bitter long, or "wolf winter" as we say in Swedish, over us at the moment, there is no possibility for me to test them. Unlike many other types of knives, throwers do not do well in the cold for several reasons. On the one hand, it is barely possible to hold them since they are all-steel construction, and on the other hand, the targets freeze. Should you throw in the woods, you can also forget the knives if you miss the slightest.

The model has been in AceJet's range for a while now, but this is a rather new version. One thing AceJet has done is that they have changed materials and abandoned spring steel in favor of D2. Whether it is really an upgrade or just a change, is the question. In throwing knives, the materials are not as important as in folding knives, while hardening is. The main thing is that they are not hard and brittle.
In addition, you get more of that material in Excalibur D2 since the size has increased from 24 cm to 10 " or 25.5 cm in length. This also increases the weight by an ounce or so. In the world of throwing knives, there is something of a golden measure where the weight should be 8-12g / cm. A formula these knives follow perfectly as they weigh in at 255 g.
As usual with knives from AceJet, these feel very solid and well-built. Something that is a bit easier with throwing knives than in the world of knife knives per se. We are talking about 8 mm thick solid steel in this case.
The balance of these knives is found a few centimeters towards the handle. An excellent distribution for an all-around knife. I, therefore, suspect that they are just as good for rotational throwing as for no-spin and Military half-spin. Something I really long to find out!
