Sometimes manufacturers just do the right things. This applies to SRM in this case. Not so long ago I reviewed a knife from them called 7228. A knife that was rightly praised by me for being a good knife in the smaller format. Apparently many agreed with me since this knife become a success.
However, there was one thing that held it back and limited its use a bit. Maybe not so much the actual edge length as the handle size. It's a small knife! But this is where the sensitive ear to the ground or perhaps the eye on social media nowadays comes into play. SRM perceived that many with me would appreciate this model in a larger format.
Therefore, I can now present 7228, but with an "L" as in "Large" added to the designation.

The blade length has increased from just under seven centimeters to just over nine. The total length of this knife is 20.7 cm. And while they were at it, they also polished the look a bit, discreetly but effectively. The pivot screw is a bit fancier and the clip got a small but discreet logo. But they also made the tip of the clip better by widening it. Otherwise, the clip is still their eminent "TFAC - Tool Free Ambi Clip" which can be removed or replaced without tools. Just pinch it and pull back hard and it comes loose.
SRM's eminent interpretation of a lock with a transverse bolt á la Axis also remains. Their variant is called Ambi lock. However, the thumb disc from the original 7228 is gone and it has been replaced with double-sided thumb studs. Something I appreciate since an enlarged thumb disc could have been in the way. The studs, on the other hand, are perfectly placed.
Overall, this knife feels like a future hit and I have a hard time seeing that it will not be popular. Not least as the steel has also been upgraded. In this larger edition, SRM uses VG10. In addition, the handle is really comfortable.
All in all, a very attractive package. Especially as I think the knife is good-looking!
