A knife that stands out! That's the easiest way to sum up the TS514 from Two Sun Knives. As everyone can see, it is a folding dagger with the entire blade hidden in the handle when folded, which means that you can make it double-edged if you feel like it.
Two Sun TS514 |
In the basic version, it is only sharpened on one side. The factory edge is good but only just. It is not completely smooth, and the opposite side has a small "edge" where the curvature of the spine is not completely symmetrical and does not match the edge perfectly. This suggests that there would be a human involved in sharpening this knife. The steel used is Sandvik 14C28N.
The length of the blade is 90 mm, although the information says 85 mm, and the thickness is 3.85 mm. The total length of the knife is 21.5 cm and the weight is 155 grams.
Then we have what makes the knife stand out besides the specific shape. This is a knife with elements or rather inlay of G10 with a "Desert Warrior" theme. For those of you who don't know, it arose as a kind of humorous counter-movement to all the knives that came in various forms of desert camouflage or "Dessert Warrior" a few years ago. All knife users were supposed to be "operators" or something. A genius then came up with the smart idea of making a cake or donut theme on a knife and added this name.
This piece of G10 in the handle, which is otherwise made entirely of TC4 titanium, actually has a function as well. It acts as an overtravel stop for the lock bar. But the color, well, you can have different opinions about that.
Overall, a well-built and somewhat fun knife in the collection. Is it the most practical one ever made? No, but I already knew that.
