New Knife - AceJet Spinner Bowie Silver Hunter

There are probably more people than me out there who waited. For what, might one wonder. Well, that Acejet should broaden their catalog. Not because they have few models, on the contrary, there is a lot to choose from if you look at their website. Incidentally, it is recently updated when this is written in October 2022. And as if the number of knives is not enough, there are often different versions of many models. It can be about different types of steel, extra thick versions, or luxury editions with various designs including gold-plated ones.

But so far, there has been a lack of serious investment in knives intended for rotational throwing. Now perhaps that is not so strange given the background of Acejet's main poster name Adam Celadin. He still holds several gold medals at the international level in just no spin. Then it could possibly be objected that Osetr-type knives such as the Appache (SIC!) I reviewed can be used for all types of throwing. That's a correct statement but that doesn't make it a pure rotational knife in any case.

Someone at the company probably realized that there was a bit more to be gained both in terms of attention and probably money if you also included models geared solely towards that type of throwing style. Thus, the recently launched Spinner Bowie knives were a fact.

AceJet Spinner Bowie, Silver Hunter

Spinner Bowie is initially available in two different editions. One is called "Shadow Hunter" and has the darker steel found in the shadow series. It is the same blued steel found in the Raven II that I previously wrote about. The other is this one which has the usual rough brushed finish found on a majority of Acejet knives. The knife then gets the addition, Silver Hunter, instead.

That the knife is a Bowie is perhaps evident from the shape of the distinctly cut tip. But it is a rather narrow knife for its type. The height of the blade is only 30 millimeters. In addition to the blade shape, it is the ring typical of spinner knives that dominates the appearance. The one that allows you to spin the knife around your index finger. A vital feature...or maybe not. But it's fun in any case.

A set of knives for rotational throwing ready to be inaugurated

The thickness is 6 mm, which I think is almost perfect for rotational knives. Any thicker than that and they tend to be too heavy. For my taste should be added as it is a highly personal preference. In this case, it is enough for a weight of 390 g. But that is because this is the long version that measures 13" or 33 cm. The knives are available in a twelve-inch/30.5 cm variant as well and then weigh around 330 g.

In addition to the length and finish of the steel, the knife can be obtained with different colors on the pieces of leather that act as handles. They are screwed in place with Chicago screws but not glued. I will return to that fact in a future review. One of the few details that don't feel thought through on this knife.

Overall a very exciting and interesting acquaintance and it will be really fun to inaugurate these knives! When it will happen is weather dependent must be admitted!
