November

Time to turn the page and see what’s on the other side. Though, in these digital times, people might soon no longer know what "turning a page" actually means. It belongs to an obsolete technology—or rather, one that will likely outlive computers. That’s a comforting thought, given that all anyone talks about these days is AI. I don’t know him, though. Is he any good, this AI fellow? What can he—or perhaps she—actually do?

Probably something useful, but nothing that helps me. What I’ve noticed most is that Mr. or Ms. Technology tends to steal my writing. If you search for reviews of various types of knives, you’ll find my texts—or parts of them—popping up in the results. I’m left wondering whether to take that as flattery or a threat.

But as for composing something original—that is something this "AI person" cannot do. What it actually does is steal at an incredibly high speed. Nor can it truly express itself—unless, that is, you define expression simply as getting things factually correct. An AI can certainly learn to do that, but it will never possess a personality!

That is why I intend to focus even more on this moving forward: cultivating a distinct, personal voice—something you simply cannot get from an AI-generated summary of thirty YouTube clips and a hodgepodge of texts written by me or others.

In practical terms, this month means that reviews will continue to be a staple. Coming up, I’ll be looking at models from brands such as Joker Knives, Karesuandokniven, Al Mar, and Civivi. On a more personal note, I’ll be continuing the "Deep Dive into the Blog Archive" series—and, not least, sharing a piece on what can happen when a new brand is launched and the market is completely misread.

There will likely be a few new knives as well, even if it doesn’t look like there will be that many, given that we’re nearing the end of the year. A couple are on their way, including some pieces from a brand that is entirely new to me. It will be interesting to see, especially considering what I just mentioned about gauging the market—hopefully, these folks have their finger on the pulse and are better at it.

Naturally, there will also be the usual recurring features, such as a recap of last month’s knife-throwing activities and the "Photo of the Day."

In other words, it looks like it’s going to be a fairly packed month.
