New Knife - QSP Gannet

Gannet is the name of this knife from QSP Knife. An interesting knife insofar as it deviates from their usual lineup in several respects. It made me interested. Although I was actually most interested in the blade as I am weak for a nice clip point. As I usually say, a good drop point is probably more practical, but sometimes it has to be left behind for the aesthetic. But in this case, they have "cheated" a bit by first letting the spine of the blade rise slightly before it dives down to the tip. It gives a clip point which in practice is a drop point. The best of both worlds perhaps?

In addition to an attractive blade, you get a handle that for the most part consists of linen micarta, even though the bolsters are made of carbon fiber. Damn fine carbon fiber can be added. In addition, the joints between the materials are exceptionally nicely made and impossible to feel.

The bolster is also an unusual detail for QSP even if it's not unique. They've done it once before on the "Worker" model. The blade steel is as far as I know the first attempt for QSP. 154CM is used for this knife. Another first for QSP is that this is a front flipper. A successful first attempt as it works great. Otherwise, it is customary quality construction with both polished, rounded, and lightened frame equipped with a backspacer in G10. The knife also has ceramic ball bearings.

All this and a little more I will of course discuss in the coming review!
