It seems they did it again, Civivi that is. What they have succeeded in is creating yet another really competent challenger in the budget class. A class that, incidentally, they have shaken up considerably ever since they entered the market. The first impressions of this particurlarly model are overwhelmingly positive. It remains to be seen if I can cool down a bit and deliver a more balanced view of the matter when a little more time has passed.
The knife I'm talking about is called Ortis is as the headline tells you.
Civivi Ortis |
Civivi has released a series of new knives lately and amongst them this knife, which by the way is one of the latest. Ortis is a fairly traditional pocket knife in terms of appearance. It offers a clip point blade and softly rounded handle. Think of a modern knife in the same class as a Buck 112 for example or rather a challenger to Buck's lightweight version of that knife. The with much better production quality of course.
This is where Civivi excels and dominates several of its competitors. They offer for the price range exceptionally good handling with in this case an extremely good flipper action and matching lock. The production quality is also top notch.
In addition, Ortis offers 9Cr18MoV steel, FRN handles and ceramic ball bearings. The blade is also hollow grind with a well executed factory edge. This should mean that it cuts well.
More details and how Ortis feels in hand and to use will of course follow as soon as I have carried and used this knife.
