New Knife - SRM 9215

This is the third knife from SRM in a short time for me. First out was the 7228L which is an enlarged version of, yes you can guess, 7228. Then the Unicorn, which in addition to the name is quite unique in that it is a knife with a titanium handle and also with a blade that offers Persian influences with its upswept blade or trailing point as it is called. That is a first for SRM.

Today we are going to another part of the world, more specifically Asia and Japan. It is no secret where this knife got its design language from. The two-tone Micarta has a diamond pattern reminiscent of the result of tsukamaki, the Japanese art of wrapping a handle. In addition, the whole knife has a tantoesque shape and a tanto tip. The Japanese version and not the Americanized version should perhaps be added.

SRM 9215

The slim format is distinct and appeals to many. But I have to admit that these flirtations with Japanese aesthetics in folding knives rarely appeal to me. That's why I do not own a single knife of the otherwise so popular Kwaiken models that have been so popular in recent years from different manufacturers.

With that said, this one still looks decent even in my eyes, even if the basic type itself is not my personal favorite. But I'm absolutely convinced it could be someone elses. Model 9215 is a well-built knife that offers G10 in the handle, a slim blade in D2 steel and a sympathetic "Ambi-Lock". It is SRM's own version of all Axis derivatives available. Theirs works excellently can be pointed out. The knife also comes with "TFAC" or "ambi clip" as it is also called. An invention from SRM that allows the clip to be repositioned or removed without tools. You pinch the steel legs on the clip to release a couple of locking lugs inside the handle and then you push hard backwards whereupon it comes loose.

9215 is, despite its slender appearance, a full-grown knife. The total length is twenty-one centimeters/8.3 inches and the blade measures just over nine centimeters or more than 3.5 inches. Overall an interesting acquaintance. A review will come as usual!
