Old dogs should apparently be able to learn to sit. This should mean that even old knife buyers should learn to be able to translate printed measurements into reality. Sometimes I lack in that department. By that, I mean that this knife, M2M from Lionsteel was significantly much smaller than I thought! This is despite the fact that I certainly read the specifications.
Now, in this case, it's not a bad trait. On the contrary, it was love at first sight. There are so many things that have been done right with this knife and that can be detected even after holding the knife for a few moments.
The Lionsteel M2M comes with a sturdy leather sheath which includes an extremely flexible carrying system |
M390 steel is found in the blade and the handle is made of well-shaped Micarta |
This knife is a development of an already existing knife in Lionsteel's program unsurprisingly called M2. It is also their smallest fixed blade developed in connection with the MCKF forum to provide a small and compact knife for outdoor use.
But the extra M in the name is important in this case because a lot has happened between the two models. In principle, the entire knife has been overhauled. The handle is longer and with a more advanced design, the blade has upgraded steel, and not least the sheath is completely different from the original.
A (probably) very good knife is now excellent! But before I state it, the knife must of course be used first. But we're talking about M390 steel, which means it will not get much better on that front. In addition, an extremely good handle and a sheath in heavy leather that can be attached or worn almost anywhere, including on combat packs, backpacks, belts, or how you now feel about transporting your tool. This is made possible by two detachable leather straps that can also be angled as needed. A very flexible carrying system.
As I said, the steel has been upgraded and the handle, which I certainly do not know how it was before, is now a pure joy to hold. I will return with more reports about this little knife and not least a review!
