New Knife - Sencut Acumen

It arrived in grand fashion, the Acumen from Sencut. Our Danish neighbors named the storm Malik. He later also visited Småland, in the south Sweden where I live. In the middle of the storm, a package arrived. It prompted a walk in very windy weather to the local post office, in my case a gas station, to fetch it.

For those who do not know, Sencut is a sister brand to Civivi. They in turn are a sister brand to WE-Knives. Simply put, Civivi was intended and are more budget-oriented versions of the WE knives. From the beginning, they were often found in the price range of 30-40$ MSRP from the manufacturer. But as time past by and success have increased, so have prices. This means that the brand now often has knives that cost twice as much.

This allowed for an additional brand to fill the gap. This is where Sencut enter the stage. The quality is there in many ways, but the materials are simpler and the sales channels are limited to Amazon. All to keep prices down.

Sencut Acumen

Acumen is a typical Sencut in that sense. Well built with nice lines and in my opinion an attractive exterior. The contrast between black and purple works well. By the way, this is my first knife with that color on the handle. Sometimes a little spice is nice. If you prefer a more traditional look the knife is available in more color combinations. The handle is made out of G10. The steel is as often 9Cr18MoV. Good steel in this context. So even though the materials are simpler, they are well chosen.

The first impressions were very positive as the knife is nice to look at, opens quickly, and locks well. In addition, the balance is excellent. But already after a couple of minutes of handling, a major shortcoming was discovered. I intend to delve into that in a future review. However, I can reveal that it's about how the knife feels in the hand.

The knife can be bought from Amazon
