This is one of the best looking knives I own! Simplicity manifested. Pure elegant lines without disturbing details. No clip, no "flipper tab" or anything modern that detracts from the aesthetic. A folding knife scaled down to the essentials, a handle and a blade. In addition, a practical blade and a comfortable handle.
This beauty comes from Italian Viper Knives, which both the box and the logo on the blade tells us. This model is part of a series of knives they call "collezione" which includes several regional knife patterns from Italy. This one is from Abbruzzi and the knife is called Gobbo.
Viper Gobbo |
"Gobbo" means humpback in Italian and the name refers to the characteristic handle that has a typical curvature in the middle. Also typical is the slender and simple blade shape. Despite the classic attributes, this is a modern knife designed by Fabrizio "Silvestri" Silvestrelli. The modern is revealed in the internal steel frame countersank in the well-polished olive wood scales and in the "locking system".
Actually, it's not a lock but Viper's own version of a slipjoint called "Actionstopper". It is based on a system with double detent balls and works very well in this case. All in all a very nice knife I must say!
