New Knife - Al Mar Eagle Classic

"Trends come and go while some things remain the same" I wrote in a review of Al Mars model Falcon Classic. By that, of course, I meant that the word "Classic" in the name was unusually appropriate. Some types of looks do not get dated, they are instead timeless. Of course, this applies not only to knives but to all sorts of things that are the result of good design. You will find cars that only get nicer with age, furniture that possesses timeless charm and so on. But one thing is clear, flared jeans have never been and will never be appealing.

Since I really liked the looks of the Falcon, it was almost inevitable that I was going to get this model too. As the title says, it's the larger Al Mar Eagle Classic.

Al Mar Eagle Classic

Creating an Eagle means that you take a piece of Falcon and make it bigger. It means more of everything. A larger handle, more blade, pointier shape and even longer elegant lines. To be more concret that means that this knife offers a 4 inch blade. We are thus talkin about a rather big knife here. The blade steel is AUS8. A steel that Al Mar sticks to when it comes to this series of knives.

The handle material is also in this case "honey jigged bone" or bone treated to look like stag. A very classic material in a knife making context. The lock is Al Mar's rather famous "mid lock" or a back lock with the lock bar placed at the middle of the handle. There is no clip on this knife, but instead the knife comes with a simple but well-sewn leather case.

The action on this specimen was remarkably good I must say. Overall, I'm really happy with the first impressions of this knife. It matches my other knives from Al Mar just perfectly!
