New Knife - QSP Walrus

Time for a slightly simpler and thereby lower-priced model from QSP. As the title already hinted at, this knife is called the Walrus. For me it is a rather unusual addition to the collection as it comes with a "trailing point" also called a Persian blade or just "upswept" in English. I don't have very many of them.

The reason I'm not too fond of that blade type is twofold. Firstly, I don't appreciate the aesthetics in general and secondly, the tip feels a bit "elusive" in many everyday situations. I prefer to find the tip more in line with the center of the handle if you put it that way.

But sometimes you must step off the beaten path and try something new.

Usual packaging from QSP. Also included are some stickers and a detailed product description that actually represents the knife in question

That this knife isn't found in the higher strata in QSP's extensive catalog can be seen mainly on the blade steel, which is D2, and small details such as the clip being of a less complicated nature.

The handle is otherwise made of Micarta with a fairly rough structure. The material is of excellent quality and offers really good traction. The knife itself is uncomplicated in design but is of the type where the frame rises slightly above the sides of the handle. It contributes to a rounder shape. It also surprised me by feeling extremely good in the hand right from the start. It will be interesting to see if that impression remains when you start working with the knife.

It can be said that it is a fairly substantial knife with a blade of 8.6 cm and which measures 206 mm in total length. The weight ends up at 119 grams.

Furthermore, it can be noted that it is a dedicated flipper knife. Something that isn't that common in recent times when many manufacturers often focus on multiple opening methods.

QSP Walrus

Overall, the QSP Walrus is an interesting knife despite where the tip is found. Especially as it has an extraordinary crispy action. The ceramic ball bearings and the very fine-tuned detent ball do the trick. It is also very comfortable in the hand, as I said, and together that forms a good basis for a competent pocket knife. There will of course be a review at some point in the future.
