New Knife - SRM 7228

A new brand has seen the light of day, SRM.  An abbreviation to be read "Stay Ready for More".

But hold on, the attentive or knowledgeable in the field of Chinese knives might object and say they have heard that name before. I can only agree as it is an established abbreviation of the manufacturer San Ren Mu. They in turn have appeared on the market with several brands. For instance with a logy written with Chinese characters intended for the domestic Chinese market. But also with a logo with a stylized R with three dashes in front for the international market. They have also been making knives for others for many years. Real Steel and Ruike are just two examples. They also caused some controversy many years ago when their small model 710 achieved success while somewhat resembling the famous CRK Small Sebenza. Personally, I think that debate was silly and with a few year's perspectives, it becomes even more so considering how different brands influence each other these days. Among other things, it applies to locks which lead us to today's knife. Benchmade's patent on the famous Axis lock has expired, which has meant that the market has literally exploded with more or less closely related variants of the lock type.

And this knife SRM 7228 boasts one of them called Ambi lock.

Revived brand and new model, 7228 from SRM

Model 7228 gives you a lot for your invested money. As mentioned, the knife has an Ambi lock, two-colored G10, a blade in D2-steel, and perhaps most interestingly, their "Ambi clip" with SRM's patented "TFAC" technology. In short, this means that the clip can be shifted without the use of any tools. It is a deep ride, loop over clip and I can already tell that is a very good one.

If you do not like the yellow color, it can be added that it changes depending on the light. From almost greenish via mustard yellow to bright yellow. If you do not appreciate yellow shades at all, the knife is also available in orange and blue.

Otherwise, this model offers very good handling and at a very reasonable price. We are talking about a target price from the factory of just under $50.

A review will follow and something tells me that this was not my last knife from SRM
