Al mar is going through a revival and the company has in addition to their knives in the lightweight and Classic collections also released new versions of the folding knives that once built the brand.
With S.E.R.E, Al Mar was the first to manufacture folding knives of the type which would later be called tactical. It is a group of folding knives that today dominate the market in its various iterations.
The first version of this series was an unusually sturdy folding knife originally designed by Al Mar and Nick Rowe for the US Army "S.E.R.E school". It was the end of the seventies and the model was updated twenty years later and changed its name to SERE 2000 or S2K. That version was lighter, stronger and made in more modern materials than the original.

After another twenty years, it's time for another overhaul and, consequently, they are called SERE 2020.
The original was also available in different variants. Initially only with wooden handles and later also with synthetic handle. Above all, it was made in two different sizes, one standard and one "mini". I put the mini in quotes because it is, simply put, not that mini. The blade measures 3 "or 7,5 cm.
SERE 2020 is available in the same sizes and this one being the smaller. Then Al mar have chosen to make it in two different versions, one a little more advanced with D2 steel and G10 in the handle and a slightly more budget oriented variant which happens to be this green which has a blade made of 8Cr13MoV and FRN in the handle. Otherwise, the biggest change is that this is a flipper knife unlike the S2K knives. They were opened via thumb studs.
Now it is time for carrying, testing and enjoying. The result will of course, be presented here in the near future.
