- a ray of light in the coming darkness of fall
Now, this is not just any flashlight but version three of the Fenix model PD35. The predecessors have already received good criticism in various contexts, but I predict that this one will be a success. First impressions are really good. PD35 feels extremely well built and it offers exactly the amount of functions that can suit me.

Or how about performance like 1700 lumens in maximum capacity? Then this lamp sends the light beam over 350 m. At least that's what the manufacturer claims. I intend to look into the matter, rest assured. If you don't want to be quite as extravagant, you can run it in "ECO mode" at a modest 5 lumens. But then, in return, the battery lasts 230 hours! Perfect inside a tent, for example, I imagine. That too must be tested!
And when we're talking about the battery, an excellent one is included. In any case, I think so as the theoretical performance is high and above all it is rechargeable.*
With variable brightness from 5 to 1700 lumens, the PD35 covers most needs |
The deciding factor for me was the dual buttons though. Before, I have flashlights with on/off buttons connected to a screw function or side-placed button. The PD35 has that switch at the end and the adjustment in brightness is found on the side. With this configuration, there is no risk of switching on the lamp by mistake, and it is easy to change the function. Five brightness levels are offered along with a strobe function for emergency situations. The package also included a nylon belt pouch, as well as extra o-rings and a wrist strap.
Now I can face the coming darkness with confidence! I intend to use it both when camping in different variants and as an everyday carry flashlight, mainly carried in a bag or jacket pocket. It turns out that having a good flashlight handy when you park your bike a bit away from a street light and have a code lock is not a bad idea at all!
