New Knife - SOG Aegis AT

An autumn knife! Or perhaps it isn't by definition, but in this color combination and with the intended area of use in mind, the idea is not as far-fetched as it may first seem.

 

The model is called SOG Aegis AT and is a slightly larger folding knife that SOG state is more aimed at outdoor life than EDC. That division is always blurry, but in this case, it means a folding knife that is slightly stronger than average. This especially applies to the handle, which is really large in both height, width, and above all length. This puts Aegis AT in my category "knives with strange proportions" *.

The blade, on the other hand, is very well proportioned.

SOG Aegis AT

The blade is a drop point made of D2 steel which is blackened to prevent corrosion. It is just over three inches long or eight centimeters. The relatively short length is compensated with a substantial height, which makes the blade strong. The handle material is GRN, which is one of the many fiber-reinforced nylon materials on the market. The lock is SOG's "XR" which has been given the suffix "-AT" to the name. I do not know if it refers to the extra safety switch on the back or that the lock has been combined with an assisted opening. In any case, both features are found on this knife.

My first impressions are generally very good in terms of, for example, how the knife feels in the hand and build quality. However, I have some criticism to direct at certain choices at the design stage which I intend to discuss in the upcoming review of the knife.

As for colors, there are, as usual, a number of different combinations to choose from. This is called "Tan and Blaze" and is not available for purchase in Europe.
